Search-cum-Selection Committee to Appoint the Data Protection Board
Under Rule 17, a high-level Search-cum-Selection Committee chaired by the Cabinet Secretary recommends the Chairperson and Members of the Data Protection Board of India.
In line with Rule 17 of the DPDP Rules, 2025, the Central Government constitutes a Search-cum-Selection Committee to recommend candidates for the Data Protection Board of India.
For the Chairperson, the committee is chaired by the Cabinet Secretary and includes the Secretaries in charge of the Department of Legal Affairs and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), along with two experts of repute. The Central Government appoints the Chairperson and Members after considering the committee’s recommendations.
The Board is to comprise a Chairperson and other Members, with their terms and conditions of service set out in the Fifth Schedule.
